Description
Study-House with swimming pool
on the border with the Majella National Park
Abruzzo (Italy)
Description of the property
This spectacular contemporary architecture is resting on the top of a hill, which dominates the farm on which it is built.
The distinctive feature of the building is the formal purity, which resumes - further simplifying it - the typical shape of the Abruzzo barns and agricultural buildings in the area. Just from the observation of the houses in raw ground or " mud houses " ( rural dwellings built with the technique of "massage", that is, with a simple mixture of straw, water and land []) that inhabited the territory and the chromatic relationship that these have with the surrounding natural landscape, the particular reality of the building comes, accompanied by a particularly long and careful technical and construction study.
The external coating of the building , which is inspired and ideally bonded to these presences, enhances in particular the symbiotic relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The external coating consists of " brick tables pierced that, previously split halfway by a steel blade, have been applied on the external surfaces of the entire building (faced and roof) becoming an aesthetic element, freeing yourself of one's strictly construction function. The supply of the external coating is by the Wienerberger.
The building's building body extends over an extended plan of rectangular shape and is characterized by a central housing structure that houses: the entrance, the kitchen, two bathrooms, the library, the bedrooms and a small service room.
The central block is spread over two levels and divided into two portions of equal size the entire full space ( study and living room). The cushioning consists entirely of standard poplar plywood panels.
On the northeast side of the building the industrial concrete floor continues uninterruptedly towards the outside with a small object in which the swimming pool is located (7.50 x 4.20 m).
The windows on the ground floor constitute one of the most characteristic elements of the building, framing spectacular unspoilt views of particular landscape charm ( the Gran Sasso, the Massif of the Majella and the surrounding hills). It is the views and the visual relationship between interior and exterior that highlight and strengthen the link of the intervention with the genius loci.
A simple pietrisco road connects the entrance of the property to the building.
