Description
ON THE CIMAL OF THE MONTAUNGE OF GRANAGLIONE
Unbelievable! It was the first thing I thought of when Davide sent me on whatsapp the photos of his castle.
And even more incredible was the emotion when, with my faithful panda, I crossed the steep road that goes up to the castle from the town of Granaglione and I crossed the majestic iron gate that surrounds the property!
But do you know a castle?? I've never been able to work on such an object! On the contrary, a few years ago I sold to a customer who from Germania purchased a part of an ancient defense fortification.
But this is a whole castle!
I overtake the gate and then arrive at the garden which is also a grassy parking space. On the right there is a newsagent with a Madonna and a bench to admire the view. The view is impressive, opens across the Rhine valley that flows down there ...
The garden is all around and is very particular: flat and large all delimited by very high mountain pine trees. Immediately upstream there is a beautiful fountain with a large pool full of fish. All around there are concrete statues that starting from the fountain accompany the two stairs that lead to the castle. From here I see only the stone laces that come out from behind the greenery.
Then I enter a walkway and over a few steps of stone and I reach the real castle.
An exciting building: exposed stone façade, columns and porch ahead of the entrance. The very high quality windows and the general style reveal a recent origin of the structure ... or rather a recent elaboration because David, who has meanwhile opened the door to me, tells me that the original building system dates back to Roman times. For centuries the castle has been a bastion with control and watchdominated functions of troops that moved across the narrow Rhine valley, almost obliged pass to reach both Pistoia and Lucca and Florence.
This place has been so important and precious that over the years the castle has been occupied and conquered by many different people and has also been destroyed and rebuilt several times.
All right. Overstep the heavy door and enter the castle room ....
Now I'll give you a short, synthetic description and very technical of the structure
About 450 square meters of covered on 3 levels, distributed as follows:
On the first floor: large entrance hall, large living room, living room with fireplace and views of the gardens behind, a small bathroom / laundry room, kitchen, solar paving and a balcony
On the second floor: 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
Attic, not habitable because it is only 1,20 m high,
walkable roof, very panoramic, floor with 51 photovoltaic panels and Wi-Fi antenna + telephone antenna 5g
On the ground floor there is a large garage with window, covered woodshed, room with
window and door, basement cellar, garden of 4/5,000 sqm fenced,
provision for a small swimming pool.
Swimming pool? already because immediately on the border of the garden behind there is an excavation of the size and in the right position to make a beautiful infinity pool, perhaps with a movable and heated roof, to be able to use it all year round.
The rooms of the castle are very high as are the windows and windows that were redone in white PVC just a few years ago. All bathrooms are new.
Many of the floors are in "marmittine" decorated and studied differently in each room.
But I want to go back to talking about the roof: it is wonderful and creepy because the view is super, but also the "jump" is so large! Wonderful is the view that can be observed through the laces of the castle.
Davide tells me that part of the laces were built by Mister Rock, the former owner of the castle, who renovate it making it an elegant house.
Davide still tells me, which is said that Mr. Rock came from northern Europe here he had made his home. It appears that Rock owned and managed a liqueur distillery in the first outskirts of Bologna or around but this particular Davide is not very safe ...
As I mentioned before, in the part behind the castle there is the "piazza d'armi": a large flat garden today used as a place of recreation, but once certainly used to store arms, troops and animals.
Then that description is becoming too long and I'm about to finish the characters available.
Call me and we will deepen all the other aspects.
I forgot a curiosity: Davide has told me a secret: in the castle there is a cellar, small and charming of about 10 square meters, but from some traces on the walls it suspects that there could be a cave or a secret that was then built or closed for unknown reasons ...
The village of Granaglione is 200 meters away and currently offers a Locanda and bar, the post office, the church, the Beltaine brewery famous for its chestnut beer, a soccer field, a tennis court, a field
basketball and volleyball.
Porretta Terme is just 6km away and is a country house with all the services and comforts: various supermarkets, cinema, spa, shops, restaurants, pub, pharmacy, hospital, swimming pools, train and courier stations, Municipality, Carabinieri, Municipal Police, etc.
Not far from Granaglione there are many attractions and possibilities for recreation, as well as dozens of small characteristic villages:
1. the ski slopes of the Corno on the stairs,
2. the Terme di Porretta,
3. Lake Suviana basin. Seaside and navigable lake,
4. Basin of Lake Brasimone,
5. Basin of Lake Pavana,
6. The Rocchetta Mettii,
7. Numerous hiking, mountain biking and many more trails,
8. The village is scola,
9. The castle of the Manservisi,
10. etc ...
one hour drive away there are:
1. Florence and Pistoia
2. Bologna and its international airport.
