Description
In Maderno on Lake Garda in the Brescia area, in a quiet, cool and airy central location, a lovely furnished panoramic penthouse is for sale on the 3rd and last floor of a historic building of only 6 units, without a lift. The entire building (which is historic, dating back to before 1950) was radically renovated in 1984; this apartment was then renovated again in 2024. It consists of: living room with kitchenette and balcony with lake view; double bedroom; bathroom with window; cellar on the ground floor with space for bicycles. It has radiator heating and hot water from a new autonomous methane gas boiler that can be managed remotely. It has cooling from an air conditioner in 2 living and sleeping areas (a new one that can be managed remotely is being installed). The building also has a large communal terrace / solarium on the 4th floor / roof with a magnificent view of the lake. Low condominium fees of only EURO 350 / year. The area is well served (free car parking 200 m away; bus stop 350 m away; Sigma Superstore supermarket 400 m away; “Lido Azzurro” beach in Maderno awarded by Lega Ambiente with the “Bandiera Blu” 700 m away; ferry to other locations on the lake 900 m away; restaurants; bank; pharmacy; church). Maderno can be reached from any location in Europe by train to Desenzano and then by bus. There are dozens of kilometers of cycle paths and walks around the lake. The presence of the large lake and the mountain behind it makes the climate pleasant and breezy in summer and winter. Free and can be visited by appointment.
History of Toscolano Maderno
Since the Lombard era, the area was part of the court of the Monastery of San Colombano of the Priory of Bardolino and the priory of Solarolo (Manerba del Garda), dependent on the Abbey of San Colombano of Bobbio (PC) and the large monastic fiefdom of Bobbio. The monks evangelized the territory, encouraging the expansion of trade, agriculture (especially vines and olives), fishing, and culture, introducing important innovations and opening trade routes. Toscolano, in particular, boasts Roman origins, as demonstrated by the remains of a large villa of which, today, parts of the mosaic-decorated floor can be seen and which was supposedly owned by the Roman consul Marco Nonio Macrino. The parish church of Toscolano, founded in 1571 and dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, was for a long time the summer seat of the diocese of Brescia. It contains an important pictorial cycle by the Venetian artist Andrea Celesti. In the final part of the Toscolano river valley, the paper industry developed starting in 1300, among the first and most important places in Europe. For this reason, this stretch of valley is called "Valley of the Paper Mills". As evidence there is a document dated 17 October 1381 which has as its object the agreement between the municipalities of Maderno and Toscolano (then divided) with which the rules for the division and use of the river waters are established in nine points.
