Of pre-Roman origin, Gravedona was a prosperous town in the Middle Ages, allied with Milan during the Ten Years War. In 1500 it constituted the capital of the Tre Pievi Superiori of Lake Como, which then passed into fiefdom to Tolomeo Gallio, and always managed to maintain a certain autonomy even under the lords of the Visconti and the Sforza. A peculiar boast of Gravedona was the goldsmith's art thanks above all to the Sergregori family. The town's economy in the past was based on fishing, agriculture and cattle breeding. Today Gravedona is an important commercial and summer resort center. We remember the Church of San Vincenzo built around 1050 on a previous chapel of the fifth century, it was rebuilt between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
