About the city
The city that's closest to the property is Crema, a wonderful medieval city of 34.000 inhabitants, which origins go all the way back to the year 570 b.C., eventhough it's first historic traces are from the XI century.
The historical centre of the city is very wide and full of historical buildings, churches and monuments that testify to the city's amazing history; it's enclosed by Porta Serio e Porta Ombriano, the city's ancient gates, which are connected to eachother by the ancient venetian walls from 1488, still visible to this day from some spots.
Inside the city there's Piazza Duomo, surrounded by buildings that date back to the 1500's and by the most important ecclesiastical and secular monuments: The City Hall with its famous arch called "il Torrazzo", the praetorian palace, the Bishop's palace, and, of course, the Duomo. In Via Dante is located the ex Saint Augustine convent, now turned into a Civic Museum and Cultural Centre where often meetings about current issues are held with the participation of many distinguished intellectuals.
The theater, formerly the San Domenico convent, has a rich theatrical programming that extends throughout the whole year.
Walking through the centre streets, it's impossible not to notice all of the extremely beautiful and artistic historical buildings, built between the 1400's and the 1700's.
Crema isn't just history, it is also nature: it is, indeed, a part of the "parco del Serio", and has many green areas distributed all around the city.
