The conditions of the rooms on the ground floor, first and second floors are good and the total area of the house is about 200 square meters + outdoor spaces. It is equipped with a double entrance: an ancient doorway with a stone doorway leading to a courtyard from which a stone staircase leads directly to the loggia and a second entrance with a door at street level leading to the entrance room of the house. Caltabellotta is an ancient village of 5000 inhabitants located at 750 m. above sea level and whose foundation dates back to the 2nd century BC with the name of Triokala (city of slaves). The place was destroyed by the Romans and was later occupied by the Arabs and then by the Normans. Rich in historical and architectural monuments among which the Sicilian caves are mentioned, the cathedral with statues of Gagini, the convent with attached hermitage of S.Pellegrino bishop and other churches of notable artistic value for whose knowledge is referred to the following site: http : //www.caltabellotta.net/storia-caltabellotta.htm Caltabellotta is historically known for the "Peace of Caltabellotta" signed between the Angevins and the Aragonese on August 31, 1302 with which ended the first phase of the Sicilian Vespers for the possession of southern Italy. The village is 40 km from Agrigento, 20 km from Sciacca and 20 km from the sea.
