History:

La Torre alle Rose is a villa located on a hill near the church of San Lorenzo. It retains the Renaissance architecture, with a large main room decorated with eighteenth-century frescoes. It was originally owned by noble families such as the Rossi, the Quartese and the Adimari.

In 1461, it was purchased by Niccolò d'Andrea del Benino, whose son turned the building into a villa. After various passages of property, in 1551 it was sold to Giovanni Battista Cini, who hosted the Dominican friar Egnazio Danti. Danti, famous astronomer and mathematician, used the villa for studies and built tools such as the anemoscope.

Later, the villa passed to the Malaspina family and, finally, to Cosimo Grifoni. In the nineteenth century it was sold to the Curadossi and, after several steps, belonged to the Sbraci.
