Easily accessible, it is only 3.5 km from the FCU train station and the exit of the E-45 highway (Orte / Cesena) which allows you to reach Todi (20 km), Terni (30 km), Perugia (60 km), Perugia Airport (70 km), Assisi (55 km), Rome (120 km), Fiumicino Airport (150 km), Florence (200 km), Spoleto (30 km), Marmore Falls (40 km), Lake Trasimeno 70 (km), Lake Piediluco (45 km), etc.
Historical Notes Mezzanelli Castle
This castle also seems to have been built before the year 1000 by the nobles of Massa, the Rapizzoni; it was part of the Terra Arnolfa, it was a fief of the Baschi family, whose members, moreover, distinguished themselves with the name of Counts of Mezzanelli, and due to its powerful strategic position it was attacked and destroyed several times.
The castle in fact dominates the underlying plain, on which flows the Naia, a stream that originates from the Martani mountains, in Poggio Azzuano in the province of Terni and flows into the Tiber near Pontecuti di Todi, after a twenty-eight kilometer journey.
It was demolished several times in 1447 and 1451 by the Municipality of Todi and that of Spoleto, Mezzanelli was rebuilt shortly after in 1467 at the expense of its inhabitants.
In the year 1500 it was again attacked and destroyed by the troops of Pope Alexander VI, who had conquered Acquasparta.
In 1551 Torquato di Paride, Count of Baschi, sold half of this fiefdom to Isabella Liviani and her husband Gian Giacomo Cesi.
