Description
Umbria: It’s Italy but not as you know it. An unrivalled fascinating, magical place. The landscape is truly picturesque, an oasis of silence. Here we have a small gem, an Umbrian hamlet of 1200 people. Rare opportunity for investment in the small village of Colle di Sellano. 6 independent properties, part of a hamlet. Some need to be finished on the interior.
The property is composed of 6 antique homes.
Three of five properties are rebuilt from the foundation to the roof in the period 2001 to 2006. with roofs and ceiling beams of chestnut.
The tower dating from 1200, was identified by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (Fine Arts), which supported the reconstruction, stone by stone, numbering them one by one maintaining the original structure. The apartments have been renovated in compliance with earthquake standards, with details typical of the area (stone, chestnut beams, windows with shutters etc.) and 95% completed with inspection in 2006.
The property is completed by a private access road, and garage for about 6-7 cars, 18,000 square meters of land, part fir forest and part orchard. There is an area available for swimming pool construction. The average surface area of the reconstructed properties is about 660 square meters, with one onreconstructed property of 100 sqm yet to be restored. 360° panoramic view, overlooks the Valley of the River Vigi and the surrounding natural area. A small street leads to the road of the property, and joins Colle di Sellano to Postignano where they are working to complete restructuring as part of a region-wide program. Sellano, situated in the valley of the stream Vigi, a right-hand tributary of the Nera river, was founded in around 84 B.C. by the Romans. Never having been strong enough to win its independence, but being of great strategic importance because of its geographic situation, its fate through the centuries was always linked to that of the neighbouring cities. In the following epochs, it, therefore, fell under the rule of the Duchy of Spoleto, then under that of the Papal State and finally, under the lordship of the Collicola family.
UMBRIA
Everchanging, untouched landscapes in the green of winding valleys make Umbria a region that will never fail to amaze. This region comprises mainly hills, mountains, hollows and plains and extends along the Tiber’s central basin. At the heart of the boot, it is the only region with no coastline.
Dotted with medieval hamlets and quiet hermitages, the Umbrian hills are enchanting. A few kilometres are enough to find yourself immersed in nature, with centuries-old beech woods, deep caves and mountains steeped in ancient legends.
Water emerges in springs and mountain lakes; it flows in rivers, carving out striking stone canyons; it gathers in swamps and artificial basins, transforming them into natural oases. Lake Trasimeno, the slow flowing Tiber and the drop of the Marmore waterfalls; almost as if they were created deliberately to inspire poets and painters.
At the end of the trip, one thing is certain – Umbria is truly beautiful.
