Masserie: These are large country estates, some dating as far back as the Middle Ages and others from 18th and 19th centuries. They are surrounded by magnificent olive trees and orchards in the true Mediterranean style in this peaceful land of Upper Salento. Trulli and land sea view: The image of the "trullo", which is a timeless rural construction, is always associated with Puglia as one of the most typical of its kind. The architecture of the trullo is based on a cone built over an underground cubic structure. The historical centres situated in the hills of Upper Salento, such as Carovigno and Ostuni, are characterized by the stone alleys, old stone arches and squares all surrounded by houses that are whitewashed with lime.
